Telemedicine Services Offered At Urgent Care Center
In March of 2005, Crisp Regional Hospital was one of the first sites selected for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Telemedicine Program. During a special ribbon cutting ceremony with Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine, the details of the telemedicine were revealed. The goal of the Blue Cross Blue Shield program is to bring specialty care close to home. Telemedicine provides a rural patient better access to specialty care. The telemedicine program is relatively simple and the benefits are numerous. Telemedicine is a healthcare delivery method that applies high-speed telecommunications systems, computer technology and specialized medical cameras to examine, diagnose, treat and educate patients at a distance. It is the goal of the telemedicine program to have specialists available from Emory, Piedmont, The Medical Center of Central GA/Mercer University and Morehouse.

The 27 member staff of Crisp Regional Rehab Services includes 5 Physical Therapists, 7 Physical Therapy Assistants, 3 Occupational Therapists, 3 Occupational Therapy Assistants, and 3 Speech Therapists. Medical Imaging Services
The most recent addition
to the CRH Imaging department is a cutting-edge diagnostic imaging tool that
utilizes hybrid technology combining the strengths of two imaging modalities in
one imaging session. The PET/CT Scan is used to more accurately diagnose
and locate cancers while increasing patient comfort. Through the use of
the PET/CT Scan, the CRH Imaging department is able to assist physicians in
diagnosing and re-staging cancer patients and develop more targeted treatment
plans. This, in turn, improves patient outcomes. It is extremely
useful in cancers of the head and neck, thyroid and breast, colon, lung along
with melanoma and lymphoma. For more information about the services

Emergency Department Services
In an ongoing effort
to accommodate the growing needs of the patients in Crisp County and surrounding
areas, Crisp Regional Hospital recently added two chest pain observation beds to
the Emergency Department.
This project came about during a recent renovation to the CRH
outpatient area.
In addition, the recently added Nuclear Medicine machine allows for cardiolyte testing which can be performed with a physician present. The physician will then interpret the test and follow through with recommendations to the patient. The procedure is a non-emergent, non-invasive test that is performed to detect cardio-circulatory problems. A cardiologist is at Crisp Regional Hospital every other Wednesday seeing patients. However, it is not necessary for a cardiologist to be present to perform the cardiolyte testing. Other physicians on-staff at CRH may order and oversee the procedure.
